Skyhook provide an aerial firefighting service and is able to respond quickly across the UK
Wildfires are a scourge on the rural communities of the UK and cause large-scale damage to wildlife, ecosystems, and property. Skyhook has invested heavily in specialist equipment and training to allow us to offer an airborne fire attack service. Skyhook aircraft can drop 1000 litres of water onto a wildfire on average every 3-4 minutes when on task, allowing an otherwise out-of-control blaze to be slowed down and stopped in a much shorter period than using conventional ground-based methods, especially when the blaze has affected areas of forestry or hard-to-access moorland. We work closely with landowners and the fire service to constantly update and review the way wildfires are tackled in Scotland and across the UK to make sure that we bring the fire under control as efficiently and quickly as possible. During the summer months, Skyhook staff remain on high alert for the danger of wildfires and are always ready for a callout, allowing us to respond quickly. When a wildfire strikes, don’t hesitate to call, and Skyhook will respond. We also welcome calls out of the fire season to set up procedures early and speed up response times in case a wildfire strikes.
If you have a fire and need our help, call 01592 882 298 and we will respond immediately!
The addition of a fire attack aircraft to a wildfire scene can significantly reduce damage to property and wildlife and create a much safer environment for firefighters and other ground staff to work to extinguish the blaze.
Attadale Estate fire
"Following the breakout of a substantial hill fire on Attadale Estate, Strathcarron in June 2018, we called in Skyhook Helicopters to provide firefighting support. The response we got from all the team was excellent. From the initial phone call to Murray Graham, the helicopter, 2 pilots and ground crew were on site within 1.5 hours. The site was a particularly difficult one and the only access to the hill for the firefighters was by helicopter. Another firm had been on site at the beginning of the day and dropped the firefighters onto the hill but due to their flying time restrictions they had to leave the site, stranding the firefighters on the hill.
Skyhook had provided 2 pilots to allow flying time to be extended and immediately set about facilitating the removal of the firefighters from the hill and then tackling the hill fire. The skill of the pilots was excellent in very challenging conditions. The time they took to liaise with both the fire officers and estate staff ensured the fire was controlled and all personnel were safe. The professionalism and willingness of both the pilots and ground crew to see through the incident was integral to the safe conclusion of the incident.I have subsequently used Skyhook for other flying operations, including fence and plant layouts and would highly recommend them"
